Who we are and what we stand for: Refresh Yoga Center
Refresh Yoga Center is a women and veteran owned small business. The three of us came together with different experiences and skills with the intention to create a serene and healthy place in the heart of Old Town. We believe in what we do; an atmosphere of mutual respect, support, and love push us to accomplish more than we ever could on our own. Kathryn is a West Point graduate, veteran and a Division 1 long distance runner who found yoga through injury recovery. LeeAnne is a classically trained ballet dancer who turned her ballet training into a distinct workout style that encourages core strength, pelvic integrity and deep stretches. Lindsey, a full time real estate agent, found yoga through an athletic youth and a need for stress relief and mindfulness in adulthood. We have very different backgrounds but have a deep love for healthy living, female empowerment and physical wellbeing . We have different strengths, opinions and personalities, yet we find all of these things make a complete team.
When we all set out together to take over the studio, we knew it was important to set goals for ourselves and it was even more important for us to set our intentions. We have all worked in wellness for a long time and knew clearly what we wanted our space to embody. Our mission statement and core values reflect those goals:
We provide expert yoga and fitness opportunities to the Old Town Alexandria community through a variety of classes, quality instruction, and a welcoming atmosphere. We empower our students to feel strong and peaceful in mind and body, prevent and address injury, and build a lasting network of support.
We know you both on and off the mat.
This is a lifelong practice in movement, in business, and for the environment.
We provide the best instruction, products and customer service.
Embrace the Journey
From beginner to teacher, from pre to postnatal, from baby to seniors, we are here to help you along your path.
Every time we decide on a social media post, a workshop or even hiring a new teacher, we come back to these values. It is our touchstone for all things. Our Mission statement also provides the baseline for our identity. We aim to stay authentic to our students, community and ourselves.
Our space is your space. We want you to be your authentic self. As the incomparable Maya Angelou said “People will forget what you said. They will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel”. Join us and you will feel welcomed, encouraged, challenged, supported and of course, Refreshed.
See you on the mat soon…
